Carroll Community College Library Policies

The Carroll Community College Library serves the information needs of the faculty, staff, students, and community members.
In order to insure a welcoming, safe, and productive environment, the Library has adopted the following expectations for those using the Library space, computers, and resources.
When a library patron has violated these expectations, the library reserves the right to ask the patron to leave or to call campus security.

Behavior in the Library

  • Respect the need for quiet by minimizing noise and conversation.
  • Respond in a positive manner to requests from the library staff or other patrons.
  • Set your cell phone to vibrate and take phone conversations outside the library.
  • Use headphones if you need to listen to audio files.
    • Other people should not be able to hear noise escaping from your headphones.
  • Treat library material, equipment, furniture, and building with care.
  • The Library is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings.
    • Don’t leave valuables unattended.
  • The Library reserves the right to inspect all personal belongings for library materials.
  • For their safety, children must be supervised.

Food in the Library

This policy has been set in place to preserve a clean, pest-free library and to prevent damage to materials, computers, and other equipment.

  • Snacks and drinks are allowed in the Carroll Community College Library (excluding classrooms).
  • Keep all food and beverages away from contact with library materials and computers.
  • Please dispose of any leftovers or trash in trash cans and recycle whenever possible.
  • Remember to report spills immediately at the nearest service desk for easy clean-up.
  • Delivery orders of food are not permitted.
  • Be mindful and considerate of other library users.
    • Avoid foods that may be disruptive (odorous, noisy, etc.)
