A guide to free digital educational resources which can be incorporated into and support course curriculum
Introduction
This guide will point you to a wealth of open educational resources (OER) which can be used to supplement the curriculum in online, hybrid, and face to face courses.
Open educational resources have been defined as digitized materials offered freely and openly for educators, students, and self-learners to use and re-use for teaching, learning, and research.*
Many of the digital resources included are considered to be learning objects which are resources, usually digital and web-based, that can be used and re-used to support learning.
Examples of learning objects include:
- text (textbooks, webpages, ebooks, online periodicals, blogs, wikis)
- graphics (diagrams, maps, illustrations, photographs, images)
- video (amateur, professional, free, fee-based, lecture capture, vidcasts)
- audio (podcasts, music)
- simulations / games / tutorials
