Carroll Community College Library Policies

Borrowing

  • CCC students, faculty and staff who present a valid CCC ID card or photo ID may borrow up to a total of 12 items.
  • Carroll County Public Library cardholders and Hoover Library cardholders in good standing, who present a library card or photo ID may borrow up to a total of 6 items.
  • No late fines are charged, with some exceptions. The borrower is responsible for the replacement cost of lost items.

Lost or Damaged Items

  • Borrowers will billed for the replacement cost of lost or damaged materials.
  • Patrons who return library materials with damaged or missing labels, barcodes, or security pockets will be charged a $5.00 processing fee, plus any additional costs needed to restore the item to its original condition. If the item is determined to be damaged beyond use, the patron will be billed the full replacement cost of the item in addition to the processing fee.
  • Patrons who have paid to replace a lost item are not eligible for a refund if the item is returned more than one year after the due date.

Loan Periods

  • Materials may be borrowed for 21 days. Five renewals are permitted. Some restrictions may apply.
  • Reserved textbooks, anatomical models, and DVDs, may be checked out by CCC cardholders for 4 hours and must stay in the library.
  • Ask the circulation desk for assistance with checking out laptops.
  • Reference books, newspapers and magazines may only be used in the library.

Calculators

  • All library calculators are loaned for 4-hours at a time.
  • Fines of $1.00 per day are charged on overdue calculators.
  • A calculator that is not returned after six weeks is considered lost. Borrower will be billed for the full replacement cost of the calculator.
  • A fine of $20.00 will be charged for a lost calculator that is returned in good, working condition. Lost calculators cannot be returned if the student's account has been sent to Collections by the CCC Business Office.
  • Patrons with fines over $10.00 may be restricted from borrowing additional materials.
