Examine racial/ethnic tension in a country outside of the U.S.:  Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Israel, South Africa (in text)--Australia, Ireland, Rwanda, Myanmar (Burma), Iraq or other approved country.  Explore:

  • Multicultural history of the country (ethno-national conflicts)
  • Power/privilege
  • Compare/contrast to the U.S.
  • Takeaway—what to learn about how to live successful in a multicultural country
  • If relevant also discuss other statuses (gender, sexuality, disability)

Find Books - Catalog

  • Construct searches using the suggested search terms on the right
  • If you can't find a book on your country and ethnic conflict, just look for a book on your country
  • Search by subject if you get too many results to manage
  • Try the catalog at the Hoover Library (McDaniel College) & have your books sent to Carroll
  • Try WorldCat & order books through Interlibrary Loan
    • Be sure to search by subject in WorldCat

    • Use the Advanced Search and search by subject using the name of the country & suggested search terms
  • Try Opposing Viewpoints
    • Look for your country in the list of current issues
      • In the record for your country, limit the search more in the window on the right with suggested terms
    • If no entry for your country, use the Advanced Search & search by subject
