Subject headings

Subject headings provide targeted results about a specific subject, whereas keyword searches (what you do in Google) are only looking for resources with those terms somewhere within the results. For example, a keyword search for "grapes" would return The Grapes of Wrath while a subject search would not, as the book has nothing to do with grapes. During your research, you should consider using the following subject headings:

Women -- United States -- History -- 20th century

Social conditions of women -- 20th century

Negro Leagues -- History

African Americans -- Pennsylvania -- Pittsburgh -- History
