A guide to free digital educational resources which can be incorporated into and support course curriculum

Open Courseware

The following sites provide access to searchable collections of open courseware which include free and open digital materials organized as courses, often including course planning materials and evaluation tools as well as subject content.  Open courses may include video lectures, podcasts (audio lectures), course readings and materials, learning objects, and syllabi.

    • AcademicEarth - searchable website of video lectures from MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale.
    • Cosmolearning -  provides courses, video lectures, documentaries, images, books, and other multimedia in dozens of subjects.
    • LearnersTV - a rich searchable site including video lectures, video courses, science animations, lecture notes, and online tests.
    • MIT Open Courseware - well known university with advanced level courses - ocw.mit.edu/index.htm
    • OpenCourseLibrary - a collection of free to use course material stored in Google docs.
    • Open Courseware Consortium - an organization of colleges and universities which provides access to a large searchable/browseable collection of open courses - ocwconsortium.org/courses/search
    • Saylor - open self paced courses in wide variety of disciplines
