Use Advanced Search to find sociological research
First, you have more control over your search results if you switch to Advanced Search. To find articles with a sociological perspective, click the Select a Field drop-down menu and choose SU Subject Term, and use either the word sociology or social aspects as a second search term. See the following screenshots for how you could format this search:
Or you can use your main topic as a general search, and add sociology (or social aspects) as a subject:
Limit by publication to find sociology journals
This tip is a bit more advanced, but will help you hone in on sociology-related articles in any of our EBSCO databases (OneSearch, Academic Search Premier, etc.).
First, run your search. Then, using the left-hand menu for refining your results, click the Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals check-box if it is not already checked.
Next, scroll down to where it says Publication. Expand that menu and click Show More.
Now you can select multiple publications that "sound sociological," or select ones your instructor has recommended.
When you click Update, you'll see the results from those journals only, and your search will be much more focused.
