Reading Research Guide (Education): Find Books

A guide to resources on reading development, teaching reading, and children's literature

Book & Media Catalog

Use the catalog to locate books in print format, e-books, and media (CDs & DVDs) in the library collection.

For best results, use the most direct search.  For example:

  • If you have the title, search by title.
  • If you know the author, search by author.

The keyword search is good for searching several concepts at once.  The more terms added to the search, the more the search results are narrowed.

  • Search by keyword using only major concepts or words
  • Do NOT search using complete sentences
  • Use the Help tab for information on how to search or ask a librarian

Materials are organized on the shelf by subject according to the Library of Congress System.

  • The call numbers on the spines of the books begin with letters in this alphabetical system.

To access e-books with a computer off-campus, users will be prompted for their college e-mail address and password.

The catalog is shared with Carroll County Public Libraries and McDaniel College (Hoover) Library

  • Use the drop-down menu in the upper right corner to choose Carroll Library Partnership & search all of the libraries at once
  • Use the Request button to request materials from other libraries
  • Materials can be picked up at the college or any of the public libraries

Borrow Materials from Other Libraries (Interlibrary Loan)
